Meccano Outfit 1966/67

Meccano #2 Outfit 1967 - Box

I've come into possession of this vintage Meccano set and some quick researching dates it from 1966/1967.

The boxed kit is a #2 Outfit from what appears to be 1966 (referenced from here: http://www.nzmeccano.com/image-48800). While the accompanying manual appears to be 1967 Manual Outfit 2-3 (reference material here: http://www.nzmeccano.com/image-8338).

This toy obviously served its boy owner's purposes very well over 45 years ago. It shows plenty of use and the original owner has jealously guarded his pride and joy by inscribing his name, "Robert Mooney", in crayon across both faces of the box.

Considering it's age (and the good use it obviously got put to), this vintage collectible retains a remarkable amount of it's pieces. In fact, almost all of the pieces seem to be present in the box but it would be foolish to say the set is complete. The majority of pieces that are present also show plenty of use, especially the bright yellow cover plates.

This highly collectible toy resonates with memory. It's heartwarming to think of the young Robert busily constructing model trucks and cars and planes all those years ago.

It would certainly hit a chord with any Meccano fan, and could be a nice addition to any collection either whole or by individual parts.
